Ugandan-Rwandan vocalist and songwriter Somi opens the Armory’s Under Construction Series on Friday, May 17 with the latest from The Lagos Music Salon, a multidisciplinary presentation inspired by a 15-month creative sabbatical in Lagos, Nigeria.

Get a sneak peek with Somi’s this video of her single “Ginger Me Slowly”.

“I was inspired by the Lagos slang expression ‘to ginger someone’ meaning to spice someone up and make them feel good,” Somi explained. “We taped this some time last year with Lagos-based pianist Ini. I’ve recorded a new version of the song for my forthcoming album.”
